Who We Need

Our 40 mobile games in the iOS and Android appstores, reach 15 million players worldwide and serve 30 million ad impressions monthly.

The audience is global approximately 30% in N. America, 30% in W. Europe, 30% in Brazil / Russia / China, and 10% in India.

With this volume of diversified traffic ad inventory, we are seeking a motivated, experienced, needle-eyed and revenue-oriented individual who will be able to optimize and monetize this network in the best possible manner.

Position: Business Manager – Mobile Ad Optimization.

Reporting To – You will report to the Co-Founder , who is Mahesh Khambadkone.

Based in – Mumbai, India

Background & Experience – The candidate would have managed the ad inventory on a online / mobile property (e.g. a rediff.com, miniclip.com, TimesOfIndia mobile app), with the responsibility of ensuring revenue targets are met, performance is regularly measured, and ensuring best practices are used.

The candidate would likely be in a operational or junior management role, and wish to move to a role of larger responsibility.

To do so, you should have:

  • Knowledge of the players in the mobile advertising market.
  • Past experience optimizing both mobile (banner / video) networks
  • Understanding how ad networks work! What makes them tick, so that we can sync in with them.
  • Be obsessed about details
  • Experience in the gaming  / entertainment space would be beneficial, but not a compulsion.

What the Job is All About (Role & Responsibility):

  • Report on performance on a weekly / bi-monthly basis, flagging issues / concerns to management where necessary
  • Work with management to define eCPM revenue goals as well as traffic objectives (house ads) for the networks we operate
  • Optimize the networks we presently operate to achieve these goals
  • Constantly review what is happening to our network and what innovations are happening outside of our network – other games, providers, tools, best practices
  • Build and foster new relationships with ad networks
  • Coordinate with (and build where required) a small team of analysts and network operators

Qualifications:

A valid degree, preferably in the accounts or commerce.

Age & Experience: Around 2-3 years experience operating the network of a online portal, or of mobile apps.  Candidate would also have at least 6 months experience usiing mobile ad networks like Admob or MoPub. The candidate would be about 24-26 years of age or older.

Salaries and ESOPs:

Games2win likes to meet candidates and then offer them compensation basis their experience and passion. The position will include performance-based incentives.

Games2win’s ESOP’s are very valuable and have proven to enrich employees (see note).

The Executive Manager role will be entitled to handsome ESOPs of the Company!

This product is built using Flash on the client-side, and SmartFox (www.smartfoxserver.com) in the backend for all the virtual world’s “business rules”. It also utilizes a RoR supplementary web-site to handle user registration and payments.

We periodically add new functionality that requires development in SmartFox and / or RoR.

What We Need

We are seeking partners who can understand the existing implementation, and take on development work for this product on a piece-meal basis.

The partner would also have to coordinate with our internal art team, our client-side Flash developers, and our internal QC teams to ensure the release is made on time and quality. Therefore, ability to work in a flexible manner is important to us.

iPhone Games Landscape

Mobile games have exploded in the last couple of years, with 120,000 active game currently on the Apple app store. This segment has always fascinated me, and as such I decided to do some research to get a overview of the iPhone games landscape.

To get a better understanding of the mobile gaming landscape, I collected data for 1621 iPhone games from qualityindex.com. In their words, what qualityindex.com does is:

Like all the best things in life, our approach is relatively simple.

Step 1. We comb the web and the newsstands for the most respected sources of critical opinion on games and apps.

Step 2. We feed these scores into our intelligent database, match them to the appropriate apps, and then apply a dash of our special secret sauce via a unique formula to create the definitive score.

Step 3. The resulting Qi score is then fed back into the site and run through our various feeds and filters to provide the ultimate aid to app selection.

They collect data from around 80 of the best game review sites. So I wrote a small script, a spider, to go to iphone.qualityindex.com and collect data on the 4209 iPhone game its database shows on a search, and save it into an excel file.

From these I only took games with Qi score > 7 (out of 10) and at least 5 reviews, to get down to the data set of 1621 high quality games.

Analyzing these 1621 games against download estimates given on xyologic.com, I found a fair amount of correlation between the Qi score and the number of downloads of a game, and thus in turn revenues. So I started working with the hypothesis that a high Qi score is a good reflection of the success of a mobile game.

There are other factors which determine the number of downloads too, like price, ease of gameplay, genre, marketing spends etc., which do not always get reflected well in the Qi score, so these factors should be kept in mind.

Genre

Looking at the genre of the games in the dataset, Action, Adventure, Arcade and Puzzle games dominate. Entertainment genre in the dataset is sort of a catch-all with most of the casual and snacky games belonging to this genre.

All in 6 hours – Games2win scores at Adobe’s Game Jam!

November 3, 2012 – Games2win participated in Adobe’s Game Jam Contest held during the NASSCOM Game Developers Conference (NGDC) at Pune (India) this year.

The contest involved 6 teams of Flash game developers showing-off their game development capabilities to deliver a working game within 6 hours, using some of Adobe’s latest SDKs (Software Development Kits).

Games2win’s team, led by Kamal J and comprising Aniket R, Siva, Sridharan and Sumesh, won 2nd place with their game, Ramayana Adventures. The game works seamlessly on iOS, Android and the web.
